Know More about CaratLane

AN ODE TO THE MOON

Inspired by the moon, the chandbali earring typically has a crescent moon shaped base which is suspended elegantly from the ear lobe on a slender wire. Perhaps the simplest adornment for the ears, chandbalis can be made of paper, silk thread and terracotta. CaratLane takes the concept of chandbali earrings to a whole new level with their gold lace earring collection.

For your ears only

Browse the wide selection of 18K gold chandbali earrings with and without additional gems and the 22K gold chandbali earrings which can be worn even as gold wedding earrings. From lightweight earrings of just 7-8 g to heavy gold earrings of 40 g with ornate patterns, CaratLane has it all.

Chandbalis are finely crafted dangling earrings, the length of which accentuates the neck. The simplest designs are modifications of the actual ear ‘ring’ with the lower curve of the ring shaped like the crescent moon. The Myra wavy lace basket, the Kyra basket or the Floral cutout exude quiet elegance. The Pansy blossom is a little classier with an eye-inside-an-eye design much like a peacock feather. The Eve lattice is a little more solid, with a woven pattern. The Alka ripple and the Enna ripple are both from the Gold lace collection, as is the Sparkle cutout chandbali with a single pearl suspended like a star in the middle of the crescent.

Dual toned earrings in this collection include the Siri dual tone and the Myra layered chandbali which have both 18K gold and white gold. All these can easily be worn as accessories to work, without looking too showy.

An ear for style

Slightly more ornate and longer are the Taruni floral, Chaya patterned, Rati embellished and Rohini enamelled earrings, all in 22K gold. These have intricate designs in floral motifs resembling the ends of torans. The Rati embellished has a dual tone while the Rohini enamelled looks bewitching with meenakari work in red, brown and green. These earrings are strictly not the classic chandbalis, but they go beautifully with party wear.

The Floweret Gilda chandbali in 22K gold is more suited as evening earrings with its bold floral bud on top and the chand made of a fused grain pattern. The Ira layered chandbali, the Aashi filigree and the Gini leafy chandbali are delicate with pearls set at the fringe, making them classic party-wear earrings.

The heavier earrings like the Mintaka floral chandbali and the Marigold fan design can actually substitute jhumkas as ornate gold wedding jewellery.
