A round up of our favourite Indian fashionistas Cannes red carpet repertoire. Cannes is an exciting time for us fashion lovers. There is so much to look forward to, especially where the red carpet is concerned. Lastly year was all about Vidya Balan’s Sabyasachi wardrobe, but this time around, three Indian beauties had us glued to our Instagram feed to style stalk them. No prizes for guessing who! Sonam Kapoor Fashion’s own child rarely does any wrong and all her Cannes appearances were 10/10s. This year was all about Elie Saab for Ms. Kapoor; right from the time we spotted her at the airport. She looked positively regal in those gowns and her Anamika Khanna sari look wins her extra cred — for not being afraid of the daring. As far as jewellery was concerned, she was all about statement necklaces. Love love love. Aishwariya Bachchan A Cannes regular, Aishwariya Rai Bachchan’s looks these past few years were nothing short of yawn inducing. But this year she decided to take things in her hands and make us all sit tight and take notice. And take notice, we did! Her first outing in the Roberto Cavalli mermaid gown had us do a double take — we just couldn’t take our eyes off her. Her other two looks were great too, but we wish she had mixed it up, they ended up being too similar. She stuck to fuss free jewellery all the while, favouring drop earrings. Frieda Pinto The always-smiling Frieda Pinto is a true diva in our opinion. But this year, she failed to make us go ‘woah!’ like she normally does. In theory, there’s nothing wrong with either the red Oscar De La Renta or the feathered Michael Kors gown. But both lacked that extra edge to make our jaws drop. But she looked sweet, nonetheless! ear cuff and drop earrings were her jewellery choices. We found her off duty looks way more intriguing.
