Tennis star Tennis stars and their love affair with diamonds goes a long way… This game has led the way in creating more jewellery trends than any other sport. The diamond bracelet a desirable item on anybody’s wishlist got a completely new name and became all the more famous after an incident in the 1987 US Open. Tennis Champion Chris Evert lost her single line diamond bracelet designs in the middle of a game, and the game had to be temporarily halted while she searched the entire court for it. The “Tennis Bracelet” incident sparked a new name for this item, as well as a huge jewellery trend. The 2007 US Open saw Serena Williams tearing down the courts in long dangling diamond earrings. Her 7.05 carat diamond earrings had graduated rounds and marquise’ set in 18K White Gold and cost $15,000. The earrings that were initially supposed to be loaned to Serena were bought by her. This style sported by her is now known as “Tennis Earrings” This year’s US Open was no different. Serena was wearing diamond jewellery from the Serena Williams Signature Statement available on HSN. She was wearing an open heart diamond necklace and large diamond hoop earrings for most of the games during the tournament. Maria-Sharapova Maria Sharapova was also seen wearing diamonds – she was wearing tiffany earrings designed by the world-renowned architect and designer Frank Gehry. The Sterling Silver and Diamond Double Drop earrings design named Stria has been designed to have the kinetic energy that complements her powerful playing style. Maria has been sporting diamond earrings in 2008 and 2009 French open too. So diamond watchers now need to start looking beyond the red carpet.
