The Art Deco period flourished in Mumbai during the early 1930s when Bombay was, steadily, growing from seven different islands to one opulent city of Mumbai. Bombay, now known as Mumbai has the second largest collection of Art Deco buildings in the world and yet it is one of the least noticed architectural styles. Surprising, right?! Art Deco arrived in India via the ports of Bombay and thus, began a cultural shift. Living in a Deco styled structure was seen as a sign of affluence and prosperity. Tropical imagery, ziggurats, nautical designs and, geometrical patterns are some of the distinctive features unique to Bombay Deco. The Bombay Deco collection is an ode to the Mumbai we all know and love. It is inspired by the remarkable Art Deco features of the iconic buildings in Mumbai. The collection comprises 34 beautiful pieces which are drawn from the architecture style specific to Mumbai.

Empress Court

This splendid structure reflects an unerring symmetry of nautical elements and geometrical patterns. A fabulous pair of earrings and a cocktail ring are derived from the top view of the structure. The symmetry of the building has influenced the design of a pendant, a pair of earrings and, a ring.

Mumbai has over 300 Art Deco structures hidden in plain sight.
