Earlier this week on February 14th, a 78 carat diamond was auctioned off in Antwerp, Belgium for more than six million dollars.
The Ekati Spirit, 78 Ct
The stone was mined in October 2010 at the Ekati mine in Canada, and is named the Ekati Spirit. Given its colour and clarity, this stone is considered the greatest find in the mine’s history.
The sale was by invite only, restricted to a group of seventy potential buyers.
